Ammon Labs Celebrates 20 Years of Supporting Addiction Treatment with Anniversary Celebration

Linden, N.J. (October 12, 2018) – Joined by Linden Mayor Derek Armstead, leading addiction treatment professionals and members of the local community, Ammon Labs, the preferred drug testing laboratory by addiction treatment professionals and healthcare partners, celebrated their 20th anniversary on October 5th. The milestone event hosted at their Corporate Headquarters served as a celebration of the company’s growth over the past two decades and reaffirmed its unwavering support of recovery.

Attended by over 100 people and featuring catering from The Culinary School at Eva’s Village, a non-profit provider of care and support services for people who are struggling with poverty, hunger, homelessness, and addiction; the event was a testament to Ammon Labs’ two-decade commitment to serving as a dedicated partner to individuals in recovery and the organizations supporting them.  Since the company’s founding in 1998, Founder & CEO Stephen Haupt and his highly experienced staff have sought to utilize the latest detection and diagnostic methods and technology to assist physicians and counselors achieve their patient goals, making long-term recovery possible.

Over the last 20 years, Ammon Labs has become one of the premier drug testing laboratories in the eastern United States. Recently, the lab has experienced remarkable growth, hiring over 100 new employees this year alone. This growth has been highlighted by the hiring of former American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) Presidents Louis E. Baxter, Sr., MD, FASAM, as Director of Testing in Addiction Medicine and Michael M. Miller, MD, FASAM, FAPA, as Addiction Medicine Consultant. To accommodate its rapidly increasing workforce, the firm recently moved into a state-of-the-art, three-story, 23,400-square-foot headquarters. Since moving into the space just last year, Ammon Labs has already outgrown its new headquarters and had to expand the building to provide a home for their employee base, which now exceeds 200.

Looking to expand their impact as a dedicated partner in the fight against addiction, Ammon Labs established the Ammon Foundation in October 2016, their philanthropic endeavor. The Foundation’s mission is to empower individuals in addiction recovery through combating stigma and providing strategic support to enable personal success. Driven by the Executive Director, Mariel S. Hufnagel, they aim to realize their mission and vision through their two core programs: the Ammon Recovery Scholars Program & the Empowerment Workshop Program.  In 2018 alone, The Ammon Foundation is committed to awarding over $100,000 in educational scholarships and hosting 100 life-skill training workshops.

In the spirit of the company’s 20-year-long commitment to those in recovery, Ammon Labs marked the event with a donation of 24 doses of the life-saving opioid overdose reversal medication, NARCAN, to Chief Clarke of the Wayne Police Department.  The Ammon Foundation also made a scholarship donation to Walter Burke, 59, a resident of Manchester, N.J. and current student at Kean University. Walter has been in recovery since 2015 and the scholarship will enable him to attend college for the first time.

“Since I founded this company 20 years ago, we have been deeply committed to providing addiction treatment providers with the tools necessary to improve patient outcomes and support long-term recovery. This commitment has never been more important than it is today,” said Stephen Haupt, Founder and CEO of Ammon Labs. “In the midst of the ongoing opioid crisis, our legacy of reliable and accurate testing, our commitment to philanthropy, and our focus on uniting the treatment community enables us to better serve those on the frontlines in the fight against addiction. Although we celebrate our past success at today’s event, we also remain focused on the future and how we can continue to better support our partners.”

Evan Haupt, President of Ammon Labs, added, “As the needs of the addiction treatment and healthcare communities continue to change we will continue to evolve, employing the best minds and utilizing the best technology in the industry, to ensure we can continue to meet the mission that our company was founded upon 20 years ago.”
