Linden, N.J. (May 18, 2018) – Ammon Labs, the preferred drug testing laboratory by addiction treatment professionals and healthcare partners for over 20 years, announces that Louis E. Baxter, Sr., MD, FASAM, has joined the company as their Director of Testing in Addiction Medicine. In this role, Dr. Baxter will utilize his decades of experience in the addiction treatment field to advise the Ammon Labs executive team on best practices and increased efficiencies to ensure their lab continues to meet the highest standards for compliant and ethical testing.

With over three decades as a practicing physician, Dr. Baxter brings a wide range of medical experience to his role at Ammon Labs. Currently, Dr. Baxter serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer, Professional Assistance Program of New Jersey, Inc. (PAPNJ), and Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. As President and CEO of PAPNJ, Dr. Baxter works with impaired healthcare professionals to help them receive the care and treatment they need to begin the path towards sustainable recovery and continued employment.
Additionally, Dr. Baxter is a Fellow, Past President and Board Chairman of the American Society of Addiction Medicine; Director for the American Board of Addiction Medicine; and a member of several advisory councils including: the American College of Sports Medicine, the National Board of Medical Examiners, the Drug Testing Advisory Board for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the National Advisory Council for the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Food and Drug Administration, the USADA Review Panel, and the Liaison Council for the Office of National Drug Control Policy. Dr. Baxter’s unique combination of clinical medical and addiction treatment experience will make him a strong asset on the Ammon Labs team and a valued resource as Ammon Labs grows their presence across the nation.
Dr. Baxter also serves as a substance abuse consultant for both the National Football League and National Basketball Association, and as a member of the U.S. Olympic Anti-Doping Committee. Dr. Baxter received his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine, performed his internal medicine internship and residency at the Cooper Hospital University Medical Center in New Jersey, and fellowship in addiction medicine from Portsmouth Hospital in Virginia.
